I'm sure many of you will have heard about Julie McDonnell's tremendous fund raising event on 25 June 2016 walking the historic Pilgrims Way from Wye to Canterbury Cathedral ringing at all the churches along the route. Many churches globally showed their support by ringing for the event too. Julie suffers from Leukaemia and was raising money and awareness for the Anthony Nolan Register and Bloodwise.

On 3 July, a local band from Birchington in Kent rang a quarter peal of a new method, 'Julie McDonnell Bob Doubles' in recognition of all her hard work and achievements with her 'Strike Back Against Blood Cancer' (SBABC) campaign. Julie has now been set a new challenge - if 100 quarter peals of Julie McDonnell Bob Doubles can be rung before Christmas there is a pledge to donate £10,000 to be split equally between the two charities. Wow! At the time of writing 4 have been rung so far. This is an amazing opportunity for Sussex to support one of us and such worthwhile causes. Update 10 Sep 2016: Julie infomed us that 66 quarter peals were rung to date. Live update direct from BellBoard.

If you want to help, the variation is, Callender Bob with a Lichfield Single. For those a little more visual there are diagrams attached showing what this means! Strike-Back.pdf If you do ring a quarter peal of this you’ll need to upload this to BellBoard and link it to the event “Bellringers Strike Back Against Blood Cancer”.
