DESCRIPTION:<p>The aim of Bell Sunday is twofold:</p><ol><li>An opportunity to make cle
 rgy and congregations more aware of and interested in their bells and ringe
 rs</li><li>An opportunity for church congregations to acknowledge the contr
 ibution of bellringers to the life of the church community, and to thank th
 em for it.</li></ol><p>With co-operation between Church and Bellringers it 
 may be possible to be involved in a Service on the day, from reading lesson
 s, giving a talk instead of a Sermon, playing handbells, singing bell relat
 ed hymns, readings and prayers, all associated with bells and Bellringers. 
 Even bell-shaped biscuits served with after Service refreshments.</p><p><st
 rong>Suggestions</strong></p><ul><li>Host an exhibition of photographs, bel
 l related equipment etc highlighting what ringing is all about and introduc
 ing “Who’s Who?” in your tower</li><li>Host an open day to demonstrate bell
 ringing and the bells, giving people an opportunity to visit the ringing ro
 om and have a go</li><li>Flower arrangements could be in the shape of bells
  and incorporate bell related equipment</li><li>Choirs could be invited to 
 sing a bell anthem</li><li>Organists could play bell related music as a Vol
 untary (e.g. Carillon)</li><li>Junior Church could play handbells, or have 
 a go at chiming a bell</li><li>Ringers support the after Service refreshmen
 ts and provide tasty bell shaped goodies</li><li>Articles in the parish mag
 azine</li></ul><p>Bell Sunday will take place on Sunday 14th May, the neare
 st Sunday to St Dunstan's Day (19 May), the Patron Saint of bellringers.&nb
