Uncle Ron’s Problem Page

Fig Dear Uncle Ron,

Worrying news - I need to confess my innermost thoughts to someone.  I find that I am disappointed that there is no bell ringing this (Easter) week.  Normally I would be relieved.  You don't think I might actually be enjoying it do you?  This is a very worrying thought!

Dear Southern Division Ringer

This is a very worrying development. You are clearly suffering the early stages of Campanologia Obsessiona Dementia, otherwise known as COD. This is a common ailment, but difficult to cure. It can lead to frequent and compulsive ringing, the neglect of everything else in your life, and personal and familial disintegration. You need to try and keep bell ringing in perspective and regard it as only a small part of your life. If you feel you need to work within the church community combine it with membership of the choir, preferably singing solos, lay-readership, brass-rubbing and grave-digging. That should keep it in perspective for you. Oh, and just look at some Sussex ringers who have caught the bug. That should put you off.
