Have we finally come of age? When we should have been growing up we were dropping out, making love not war, being groovy man, watching the first man in space, hearing that Kennedy had been shot, decrying the Vietnam war, marvelling over the first heart transplant. It was the Swinging 60s, the world was changing and we were enjoying ourselves.
Now, suddenly and way before time, we find that we ourselves are 60 and the talk is, unbelievably, of bus passes, free prescriptions and pensions. Can this really be us, have we entered a time warp and found ourselves in a parallel universe, can this really be the 21st century already? What with the internet and global travel, laser treatment and organic gardening, the world has changed again and we are still enjoying ourselves.
Have we finally grown up? Of course not, this is just the next stage in our young lives!
