ABOUT THE CENTRE

At St Mary’s Hailsham there are eight easy going bells with the tenor weighing 9 ½ cwt. The tower is equipped with a simulator. Arrangements may be made for video camera facilities to be available. A bookstall is available including many of the Central Council publications.

The Centre is included in the Central Council’s Directory of Ringing Centres and has been set up with their guidance and under the auspices of the Education Committee of Sussex County Association of Change Ringers.

Catering and toilet facilities are within the confines of the church. Long stay parking is available close to the centre at no cost and there are a number of eating places within a hundred yards radius.

ABOUT THE TUTORS

All Tutors are experienced ringers most of whom have attended Central Council courses on teaching. Teaching will be either in groups or a one-to-one basis depending on the subject.

COURSES

Most of the courses will take place on a Saturday consisting of two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Evening courses are available upon request, particularly bell handling clinics and using the simulator to improve listening skills and ringing by rhythm. Quarter peals to practice a method can also be arranged during the week. A strong band will be arranged to give the student a good chance of achieving a successful outcome to the attempt.

COURSES AVAILABLE:

The majority of the ringing will take place using the simulator.
